At the Missouri Urban Journalism Workshop, high school students from around the country are selected to participate in a week-long journalism workshop at the Missouri School of Journalism. Professional journalists and editors guide the attendees to produce news stories, photographs, and broadcasts. MUJW is sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund. I attended in the summer of 2016.
As a print honoree, I produced two articles published online in the Urban Pioneer, a partner of the Columbia Missourian. One article is about ongoing abortion rights debates, while the other is about the attention local Columbia Muslims brought about the terrorists attacks in Baghdad.
