Centerpieces

So far, I have had two centerpieces this semester in the Missourian! Front and center!

Stories like these make me really excited to be a journalist and get writing.

My favorite thing I have written this semester so far has been my story (click here) about Emma Winter, a fourth grader who organized her very own climate march: March for Our Earth. I went to her home and interviewed her and her family. Interviews where I can sit down and take the time to know someone are definitely my favorite, and sitting down with Emma and her family was enjoyable. It allowed me to understand her as a person, get to know her, and find the best story possible.

The second centerpiece story (click here) was one that took me out onto the banks of the Missouri River. The event, Stewardship on the Missouri River, brought youth from across the state to partake in the river relief cleanup. YouthBuild is a nonprofit program under Job Point and provides professional, educational and practical skills to income-eligible youths ages 16 to 24 without a high school diploma.

Together, these two stories were fun to report and write.
